Who we Are:
Since its foundation in 2021 by Stefano Gullo, Bamboocha Drama has been working on its own music style.
Constantly proposing an original repertoire based on compositions and unique arrangements of tunes that are never been played by a big ensemble, Bamboocha drama purposefully expanded its style between Jazz & Classical; that blended together works perfectly also in a more popular music context.
Today, after more then two years of activity; Bamboocha Drama comes out with two new albums, one composed of all original tunes and the second one based on the Revision of the Köln Concert played by Keith Jarrett, both to be released in the 2024.
The ensemble presents itself both as a modern Big Band, in its regular line up of 6 brass, 5 woodwinds, piano, drum, d. bass, guitar and vibraphone and as a Jazz Orchestra, including in the ensemble other instruments coming from the classical field; such as oboe, harp and strings.
The compositions are all written taking in consideration the strengths of all the musicians, the composer knows artistically all the members and pays a lot of attention in what the performers can express their voice in the best way.
The possibility of having many different instruments gives a lot of variation in the orchestration, giving a lot of colors and a fresh and modern sound to the playing of this hybrid Big Band.
The Repertoire:
In the 2024 Bamboocha Drama is planning a series of concerts, presenting two different repertoires:
-
A revision of the Köln Concert played by Keith Jarrett in the 1976, revised it with all that remarkable intimacy and delicacy of a solo piano performance, but with the colors of an orchestra.
-
Instrumental arrangements of some songs of an experimental band from the UK, called Gorillaz. Bamboocha Drama want to take this repertoire and shape it in a new soundscape, implementing also the improvisation element typical of Jazz in a pop music repertoire.
Why us:
This project is presented with the aim of bringing one's vision of European music to an international environment; thus presenting a repertoire that can be suitable both in situations where the listener is attentive and curious in hearing a more refined music and for an audience that simply wants to relax, presenting a repertoire that is easy to listen to.
